It's Sunday, getting hot, approaching 100F, I'm gonna go for a ride. Head up toward the summit where it's cooler. Roll the bike out, I'm putting on my helmet and a guy pulls in on a Honda. Wants to tag along. So, off we go, up a twisty mountain road toward Interstate 80. A CHP decides to do a u-turn and follow us for awhile, but eventually we go one way and he goes the other. Up on 80 there's a rest stop with a spectacular view, so I turn in, park, light up a cigarette.

The guy's digging in his bags, pulls out a blue metallic cylindrical gizmo with a clear plastic pipe stem sticking out of it, filled with some sort of brown liquid that looks a lot like used motor oil. Thought it was some kind of e-cig, but no.

"Lookie what I found!" he exclaims. It's got an LCD readout, a couple buttons on it - what is that?
"It's honey oil, man. You buy the stem, they come packaged with all different kinds of oil in 'em, screw it into an electronic pipe and it eliminates all the particulates in the smoke. Pure THC, man. You can dial up the temp for a big hit like this," as he coughs and blows out a cloud.

We're at a rest stop on a major highway. People are pulling in, milling about, taking pictures, and here's this guy sucking down his THC and waving his pipe around. When did all this happen? Electronic pipes? You can buy refined hash oil now? This is all okay? Wow, I'm really out of it! Felt like I'd just stepped out of a time machine into a future I don't wanna see. Really? Is this what it's like in Colorado these days? 'Cause California isn't far behind..... got nothing against pot, but that was hardly the time or place - and industrial strength, no less. Don't even know this guy's name, but I'm riding in back from here on, where I can keep an eye on him.

People are crazy these days, the folks I deal with at work and now - what happened to "common sense," decency, even civility? WTF? We're circling the drain here, all we need now is Nero and a fiddle.

Jeez.. It's all that great weather in Cal that just farks up the mind. I swear it. Every wacky thing we know - like pink Christmas trees and Caitlyn Jenner - starts out there and slowly migrates east.

2010 1600 with 1700 cams; V4 custom tune; hi-flow filter; short TORS; rivco risers with spacers. Decat with elbows and baffles
